Caleta de Fuste in the municipality of Antigua is an up and coming resort on the east coast of Fuerteventura. Also known as El Castillo, (due to the Martello Tower situated in the busy harbour, built in 1743 by Claudio de Lisne, a military engineer), Caleta de Fuste is a modern, purpose-built resort with shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. This area is a popular choice with families because of the child friendly beaches with their gently shelving beach and the calm, shallow waters of the bay, but as with all of Fuerteventura water sports enthusiasts are also very well catered for and diving, snorkeling and windsurfing are popular in this protected bay.
